Cox's Bazar

Cox's Bazar (Bengali: কক্সবাজার) is a town located along the Bay of Bengal in South Eastern Bangladesh, formally known as “Pabiwa”, “Palonakee”. It is also a fishing port and district headquarters of the country. It is known for its wide natural sandy beach which is the largest sandy beach of the world. It is an unbroken 125 km sandy sea beach with a gentle slope down to the blue waters of the Bay of Bengal. Since the rise and fall of the tide here is not great, it is a good place for sea bathing. The modern Cox's Bazar derives its name from Captain Cox (died 1799), an officer serving in British India. Cox’s Bazar is the most attractive tourist spot of Bangladesh.
