Bengali


Bengali or Bangla (Bengali: বাংলা,[bangle]), member of the Indo-Aryan group of the Indo -Iranian branch of the Indo-European language family unit. It is spoken by more than 210 million people in Bangladesh, India, West Assam and Tripura. It is one of the most spoken languages in the world.

Bengali is the state language of Bangladesh


Bengali starts a culturally diverse region by means of its long and rich literary tradition to develop Bengali nationalism. The affinity of their mother tongue precedes them to the Bengali Language Movement, during which on 21 February 1952. Several peoples were killed to protest against Pakistani soldiers to keep the writing of their expression through Bengali and to establish its recognition as state language of the then Dominion of Pakistan. After that the day has been observed as Language Movement Day in Bangladesh and latter the day was declared as the International Mother Language Day by UNESCO on 17 November in 1999.
