The preliminary test of the 33rd Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) under the Public Service Commission (PSC) held on Friday.
A
total of 183,627 candidates competed for 4206 posts in the 33rd
Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination under Public Service
Commission (PSC).
In the 33rd BCS, a total of 43 applicants competed in against of 1 post.
The
highest number of applicants has applied in this year. The number of
candidates for 32nd BCS was 24,000 while 1.63 lakh applied for 31st BCS.
The
PSC introduced online registration system ever first in this year for
the BCS candidates and the process for application and paying
registration fee began on March 8 and ended on April 7.
A total of 1473 applications have been cancelled due to various irregularities, PSC sources said.
Some
candidates alleged that they could not log on to the PSC’s website and
could not submit registration fee through Teletalk due to network
problems.
In this regard, PSC Controller of Examinations AYM
Nesar Uddin told banglanews that the commission would not extend time to
apply for the examination as it had earlier cautioned the candidates
not to apply on the last date, apprehending pressure on the server.
On February 29, the 33rd general Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) circular was published.
Out
of 4206 posts, 112 in education cadre (teachers training college), 607
education college (general college), 2905 professional technical cadre
and 582 will be appointed in general cadre.
Of the general cadre,
some 300 will be recruited in administration, 89 in police and 16 in
foreign affairs through the BCS, says the circular.
