No other genre of music plays such an impact on the common people as Gano Sangeet does. At every step of our national movements, Gano Sangeet inspired the mass people to fight against the odds and achieve victory.
Known as the songs of awakening, the genre always speaks against oppression, discrimination and domination.
To preserve and patronise Gano Sangeet, Banglalink, in association with Jagoran Sangskriti Charcha O Gobeshona Kendra, has been bringing out compilations of Gano Sangeet since 2009.
The third compilation of Jagoraner Gaan will include 71 patriotic songs, of which 40 songs are new and others are previously released.
Bringing out Jagoraner Gaan is an initiative to catalogue and preserve hundreds of revolutionary songs that have accompanied the history of the Bangla speaking people.
These songs, which have passed the test of time, will be covered by famous Gano Sangeet artistes of the country and will be promoted not only through the album but through cultural events.
