Remittances grow 6pc in 2010-11

A Bangladesh Bank release on Monday said in June, the last month of the 2010-11 fiscal, the remittance earning was $ 1.03 billion. In June 2009 the earning was $ 892.2 million.

In March, the remittance inflow was $ 1.1 billion, the highest ever in a month.

In this fiscal, the four state-owned banks handled $ 301 million, while private banks brought $ 706 million. Specialised banks, Krishi Bank and BASIC Bank, handled $ 12 million while the rest was sent in by foreign banks.
