The fifth SAARC-level Speakers' Conference will begin in New Delhi from July 9, reports BSS from New Delhi.
The four-day conference will dwell on the topic of "consolidating democracy, strengthening talks between parliamentarians and people and "sustainable developments in SAARC countries: the way forward".
The South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) was established when its charter was formally adopted on December 8, 1985 by Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
The Association provides a platform for the people of South Asia to work together. It aims to promote the welfare of people of South Asia and to improve their quality of life through economic growth and social and cultural development.
