Citycell, in association with Channel i is going to organize the Citycell-Channel i Music Awards for the 7th time to honor the music artists and talents of the country. Citycell-Channel i Music Awards was initiated in 2004 to promote the music fraternity of Bangladesh. And this noble endeavor of Citycell has resulted in great success in the past 6 years. Like other years, this year there will be even better surprises in this Award. Citycell-Channel i Music Awards is entering into international platform this year. In addition, this year's theme will focus on 40 years celebration of the country's independence. At the same time, with due respect to the International Artists, 7th Citycell-Channel i Music Awards will be dedicated to their significant contribution during the liberation war. In addition to the lifetime achievement awards, the 7th Citycell-Channel i Music Awards will be given in 16 categories. The categories are Tagore Songs (Rabindra Sangeet), Nazrul Songs (Nazrul Sangeet), Folk Songs, Modern Songs, Classical - Vocal, Motion Picture Sound Track, Band Music, Underground Band, Songwriting, New Artiste (male/female), Sound Engineering, Cover Design, Music Direction, Music Video. There will also be the 7th Citycell-Channel i Music Awards by Popular Choice based on listeners' or viewers' votes through SMS in 15 categories.
The music award is divided into three stages- primary selection, secondary selection and the final selection. The main process of the award program will start through asking for entries for audio cassettes, audio CDs and VCDs from individuals and production houses released in 2010. The music related albums released from 1st January to 31st December, 2010 from individuals or production houses will be accepted for this competition.
The music albums for the 7th Citycell-Channel i Music Awards will be received from 12th July to12th August, 2011 at Channel i- 40, Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Sarani, Tejgaon, Dhaka.
A press conference was held in this regard on 12th July, 2011. Mr. Mehboob Chowdhury, CEO, Mr. Taslim Ahmed, Head of Marketing Communications were present at the press conference on behalf of Citycell. Mr. Faridur Reza Sagor, Managing Director, Impress Telefilms Limited (Channel i), Mr. Shahidul Islam Sachhu, Program Director of the 7th Citycell-Channel i Music Awards were also present at the program. Reputed artists of the country, other high officials of Citycell and Channel i attended the press conference.
