Osmany trust fund set up at DU

A trust fund named after General MAG Osmany, commander-in-chief of Liberation War Forces in 1971, was set up at the history department of Dhaka Univer-sity on Saturday.

Baset Osmany, nephew of Osmany, handed over a cheque for Tk 1,070,000 to the history department Chairperson Prof Dr Shireen Hasan Osmany to establish “Bangabir Gene-ral MAG Osmany Trust Fund” at a programme at RC Majumder auditorium on the campus.

With this fund, poor and meritorious students of history department will be given scholarships and a memorial lecture will be organised every year.

At the programme, department teacher Farhana Akter Shoovra gave a memorial lecture on “Bangabir General Osmany is a simple man but an extraordinary war hero.”

Prof Sharifullah Bhuiyan and Prof Dr Abu Md Delwar were present on the occasion.
